It is a rough water hull with a 9 foot beam. deck boats are better than bow riders because there as wide in the back as they are in the front. this boat makes i/o converters happy with a huge swim. This self-stabilizing boat's deck is always flat, even in rough waters the skipper spotted a passenger ferry a few hundred yards ahead of us and decided we could catch up. he piled on the throttle. Re: deck boats and stability in rough waters (how do you define rough waters?) i live on a houseboat on lake champlain in vermont. its a steel displacement type hull, with the deck sitting only about 16" above the water. i call rough waters anything over 3 ft, but i've been out in 5ft waves with the occasional 6ft wave..
Princecraft proudly calls its new ventura 192v a fish 'n' ski boat within the deck boat category. its seven-foot rod locker is also a ski storage compartment, and the ventura hull is a deeper, wider v than that found on most deck boats, which should allow for bigger loads and more stability in rough water.. I was able to run 50-60 and felt comfortable at that speed in the rough water. laveys are a little deeper with free board and a true 28' centerline 30.5 to the back of the swim step. i do not consider deck boats in general as good all around rough water boats though thats what a big v is for.. A well-built pontoon boat can function as a catamaran deck boat, but can be quite unpredictable at its limits, hence generally not recommended for rough water. the splendor boats look good on paper, but i have no practical experience with them..
